                Dr. Gabriel Murillo talks about the future of the Colombia-FARC conflict, the political impact of the recent hostage rescue, and the political future of Ingrid Betancur.
                                                
                                Dr. Murillo is a Colombian political scientist and professor in the Political Science Department at the University of Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia where he was an undergraduate student and later professor and chairman. Murillo did his graduate work at SUNY-Buffalo and MIT in Cambridge, MA. He has written and published many books and articles on topics such as political parties, elections, democratic governance, civil society, deliberation and citizen participation in Latin America, the Caribbean region and in Colombia in particular.

He received his Ph.D. from the Academy of Social Science in Moscow and has worked with numerous organizations in the area of community development. Dr. Kokarev is the President of the Community Development Training Center in Moscow and Political Science Professor at the State University High School of Economy. From 1991 to 1996, he was President of the Citizen Initiative Development Council in New York. He is the author of eight books and numerous articles on democracy, community development, and civil society.
